Which is Better: White or Yellow Light for Car Headlights?
Today, we can find many led headlights with different colors on the market. White, yellow, blue, even red. Which one is safer for us to drive on the road? To better understand, we need to know what defines its brightness.
Kelvin temperature
The measure used to define the shade of the bulb is the Kelvin degrees. The lower the Kelvin number between (2700K to 3000K), the more yellow the light. An original vehicle light is usually between 2800K to 3000K. For white, the Kelvin temperature ranges from 3500K to 4100K. Super White has shades starting from 4300K, reaching up to 8500K.
While some drivers swear that the yellow lights are the ones that perform best during the rain, others say that the white lights are brighter and have greater visibility.
Yellow light
They are the oldest that exists in the car light. For decades, all headlights had a yellowish tint; today, it remains the original of many vehicles. Initial studies showed that the yellow light gave less interference in the view of drivers who come on the opposite side of the light, making it a safer color for the headlights. Yellow light also cuts through rain, fog, and mist better than white or blue light.
However, the yellow lights fell out of popularity as headlights. While yellow light improves visibility in wet or foggy conditions, it makes it more difficult to see on clear days.
White light
There are many reasons to choose white light. First of all, the aesthetics: many people look for them to give an extra look to the car. However, it also has performance functions. A whiter light of h13 led bulb simulates the appearance of sunlight and improves visibility. Besides, the filters used to create selective yellow light decrease the intensity of the headlights. White light is not filtered, making it brighter.
So, which one is the best for you? Both have their positive and negative sides; now it’s up to you to analyze which one will be best for your vehicle.

For front lights
At the front light, all lights must be white, except the direction indicators and fog lights. The headlights, low beam, position lights and reversing lights are mandatory, while fog lights, daytime running lights, and obstruction warning lights are only optional.
For rear lights
At the rear, several light colors are possible. The compulsory reversing lights must be white. The rear lights, the brake lights, and the parking lights must be red.
Halogen lights used mostly in vehicles; they are incandescent bulbs but use much less energy than standard bulbs. They emit a yellowish glow but have different color temperatures, which make the lighting stronger. Precisely, these rules are there for our safety. It is important to comply with it. LED technology, because it is solid and requires little maintenance, also contributes to road safety.
